Phuong Huynh, MD, FASAM

Well-Being & Associate Medical Director

Dr Huynh serves as OhioPHP's Well-Being & Associate Medical Director. She provides statewide education on provider well-being and participates in wellness coalitions. She participates in OhioPHP's well-being screenings and oversees the Ohio Well-being CARE Service. She is a graduate of the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in Family Medicine at the University of Michigan (2007-2010) and fellowships in primary care sports medicine at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital (2010-2012) and addiction medicine at St Vincent Charity Medical Center (2019-2020). After treating pediatric patients with sports injuries in south Texas (2012-2018), she returned to Ohio to pursue other opportunities more in line with her interests in healthcare wellbeing. She became the Chief Medical Officer and 5th member of a small startup focused on physician wellbeing. She also obtained certifications in executive coaching, emotional intelligence, and professional and communications skills at the Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management. She made a career pivot into the specialty of addiction medicine and completed a fellowship in 2020. While at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and College of Medicine (2020-2022), she served as the Clinical Lead of Primary Care Addiction Medicine and became the Associate Director of the Advance Management of Relationship Centered Care fourth year rotation at the College of Medicine. She served on the board of the OhioPHP 2019-2022. She is board certified in family medicine and addiction medicine. She has given lectures in addiction medicine, communication skills, emotional intelligence, and burnout. She is a member of the American Academy of Family Medicine, a fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, and a member of the Advocacy and Policy Committee of the Ohio Society of Addiction Medicine.
